This is my first time writing an interview experience post, and I wanted to share the QC onsite questions I encountered. Partly, I hope to help other people looking for ASIC Verification positions, and partly, I hope to accumulate some points.

My basic information is that I graduated with a Master's degree in Computer Engineering in 2019, specializing in ASIC design verification. I had no prior work or internship experience. I first participated in the QC San Diego onsite interview in March 2019, and then again in May, ultimately succeeding.

The team I interviewed with in March was the automated SoC team, and the technical interview consisted of four rounds:

  1. The first round involved detailed questions about the project experience listed on my resume. For example, they asked about the overall test environment, where the coverage class was written, when samples were taken, what assertions were written, what constraints were involved, etc.
  2. The second round tested my knowledge of UVM (Unique Component Modeling). I was required to write the code for the driver class, sequence class, and sequence item class sequentially on a whiteboard. Then, I was asked to explain how to
